about

Quiet is something Quakers are known for. This song is a comment on the "power of quiet"... not confined to Quakerism especially but I think it is worth noting what a valuable tool we choose to make central to our worship and way of life.

lyrics

Verse 1
Some folks shout about it
Lead you to their door
Some folks want to ring that bell
Can’t wait to hear the final score
Some folks lower modest eyes
“Oh no, it wasn’t me”
And all the while make very sure
It’s them that you can see

Chorus 1
In quiet we can hear
Silence brings no fear
Loud words disappear
In quiet, quiet, quiet

Verse 2
Others fuss and run around
With answers thick and fast
Before the problem’s even known
Before we’ve even asked.
They never think to pause awhile
To ask what’s wrong or right
Or even stop to think their thoughts
To hold them to the light

(BUT)

Chorus 2
Your worries become small
The walls are not so tall
We’re here within your call
.

Chorus 3 (twice)
Gentle peace will bind you
Confidence will find you
Troubles fall behind you
In quiet, quiet, quiet. (1st time)
if only you were quiet (2nd time)
