Chorus 1. Step aboard the Danny, Smell the steam and taste the spray, Feel those engines beat beneath your feet, Bound for the glory days. V.1 A canny young chap not yet twenty, From County Durham he did hail, Well, he made a steam engine For the Stockton to Darlington rail. Then went on to build foundries , To forge iron and make steel For his brand new high pressure boilers They would spin the world’s wheels. Chorus 2. And his name was Daniel Adamson, He found the steam to make engines run. The Manchester Ship Canal well knows that name, Will we e’r see the like again? V.2 See, they gave that name to a grand little tug And decked her out really fine. A little Queen Mary some folk did say, See your face in the binnacle’s shine. She ferried the famous and humble alike, In peace and war played her part. Now she’s back home, we’ve made her our own, The small ship with a very big heart. Chorus 3. And her name is Daniel Adamson. Smell the steam and taste the spray, Feel those engines beat beneath your feet, Bound for the glory days. Chorus 1 repeated Step aboard the Danny, Smell the steam and taste the spray, Feel those engines beat beneath your feet, Bound for the glory days. credits released May 21, 2016 Eden Thomas, Roger Parker, Brian Jones tags

Lean on the rail, watch the river glide by, Look down through the water, gaze up at the sky The bank sliding past, the fields beyond green, More fishes, more birds than you ever have seen. Dream with me, sing with me, happy, carefree As we sail down this river on our way to the sea This river’s our friend, for boats large and small She knows where we’re headed, she’s guiding us all She carries us safely past factory, past farm This river will steer us past trouble and harm Dream with me, sing with me, happy, carefree As we sail down this river on our way to the sea Through locks, under bridges around every bend. This river’s so busy as we reach journey’s end It widens, it deepens, there’s salt in the air, The sea lies ahead and the wind is set fair Dream with me, sing with me, happy, carefree As we sail down this river on our way to the sea.
